Our Winter, Summer and NetSetGo details are set out below

Winter season

What is it

The Macedon Ranges Netball Association (MRNA) hosts the winter season competition each year. Woodend teams play against teams from all over the Macedon Ranges, including Romsey, Riddells Creek, Kyneton, Gisborne, Lancefield, Macedon etc.

When and where are games played

Games are played at the MRNA Netball Complex, corner of Hamilton and Barringo Roads, New Gisborne. Games start at 8.30am

How are the teams decided

Grading/training sessions are held at Buffalo Stadium in March for all players. We then submit team lists to the MRNA, who run grading tournaments in March/April to determine the section each team should play in. 9 & Under and 11 & Under teams are not graded by MRNA, but the committee uses the sessions at Buffalo to get an idea of experience and ability to put together good, even teams.

When and where is training

Training is at Buffalo Stadium outdoor netball courts.

Training dates for 2023 are tbc, however we aim to have all training sessions on Thursday evening, starting at 4.15pm.

How much does it cost, and how do I register

Registrations are through Netball Connect (provided by Netball Victoria) Registration fees include:

  • Netball Victoria Membership and Insurance

The age of the player on 31 December of the playing year, will determine their age group. For example, a player turning 8 or 9 during their playing year, will be eligible to play in 9 & Under for that year. For more information, see the MRNA By-Laws.

Can boys play

Yes – we would love boys to join our teams! Please note the MRNA has a few rules around boys playing in the winter comp, as follows:

  • 9 & Under, 11 & Under, 13 & Under – no restriction on the number of boys in a team

  • If a boy turns 13 before the start of competition they must play up to 15 & Under

  • If a boy turns 15 before the start of competition they cannot play at all

  • 16 & Under – minimum of zero and maximum of one boy per team (not just on the court, per team)

  • 17 & Under – female only competition
